Taller participativo sobre recuperación de suelos contaminados en el Guadiamar

The Guadiamar Green Corridor (in Sevilla province) is one of the 17 case studies within the Euroepan project RECARE (2014-2018), which main aim is to find ways of assessing the current threats to soils and finding innovative solutions to prevent further soil degradation across Europe.

On February 19th 2015 we had a participative workshop in the Visitors Center of Guadiamar (Aznalcázar), organized by Engracia Madejón (IRNAS, CSIC) and María Anaya (Evenor-Tech), with representatives of the main stakeholders associated with the management, study and use of the Guadiamar Green Corridor. More than 30 participants represented to the Regional Government, Academic and Research Institutions, Environmental Education Centers, Farmers Associations and NGOs.

The objectives of the workshop were to build a multidisciplinar plataform from which to identify the main threats and to propose the best solutions for the remediation of contaminated soils. In this first workshop the different stakeholders met together and shared the diverse perspectives on the management of the Guadiamar Green Corridor. A list of the main threats and problems in the area was made, and the possible solutions, technologies and approaches were evaluated to recover the soil functions and the provision of ecosystem services.
