CEIP Coca de la Piñera in Utrera, with its school garden, will join the centres that carry out activities in the RECICOMP-HUERTOS Citizen Science project. This project uses compost from the organic fraction of selectively collected waste to cultivate various vegetables. The compost comes from the municipality of Olvera and has been supplied by the public company Básica SAU. This compost is of high quality due to the efficient separation carried out by the door-to-door collection system in the Association of Municipalities of the Sierra de Cádiz municipalities. The activities began on 12 February with an explanation by Rafael López to two groups of 6th-grade students about the value of composting and the tests that will be carried out in the school flowerbeds. These activities are carried out with Paqui Moscoso’s collaboration, a monitor in the gardens of school centres in Utrera, and several teachers.
