Red de Cambio Global

The Network of Terrestrial Ecology to cope with Global Change challenges – ECOMETAS has just started. This network is coordinated by J. M. Olano (EUITA Soria, University of Valadolid) and brings together the work of scientists from ten Spanish Institutions, including the IRNAS (represented by T. Marañón). The network has received a grant from the Ministry of Economy and Competitivity within the program “Actions to dynamization – Networks of Excellence” (CGL2014-53840-REDT; 1 December 2014 – 30 November 2016). The aim is to understand the mechanisms driving ecosystem assemblage and how changes in ecosystem configuration may result in a modification of its basic properties, and in special, how these changes might alter the provision of ecosystem services. The network is aimed to transfer scientific achievements into knowledge and technical applications focused on improving environmental management and fighting against global change effects. The final target is to go for a knowledge-based environmental management.
