Description of the service
The Microbiology of Cultural Heritage Service, Institute of Natural Resources and Agricultural Biology, Seville, aims to cover the existing demand in this sector. We devote particular attention to the biodeterioration of Cultural Heritage. Analysis and diagnostic of the conservation and/or deterioration of all materials (rock art pantings, frescoes, statues, building and monuments, paintings in museums, parchments, textiles, wood, ceramics and all type of materials of cultural interest), as well as m methods of control and conservation recommendations. In addition, we are an experienced team involved in the aerobiology of confined sites (buildings, museums, libraries, industries, rock art caves, mines, etc.) with identification of microorganisms and their air concentration.
Services
- Aerobiology and air quality (microbial contamination), including count of the number of bacteria and fungi as colony-forming units per cubic meter of air (CFU/ m3), identification and abundance of airborne microorganisms in air. In addition, we can carry out any other study on biodeterioration of the Cultural Heritage by bacteria, fungi and other microorganisms.
- Digital Image Analysis. . Detection, quantification and monitoring of areas colonized by microorganisms.
