On Thursday, April 24, 2025, the first lettuces of the RECICOMP-HUERTOS trial were harvested at the Serafín and Joaquín Álvarez Quintero Primary School in Utrera. Sabina Rossini and Rafael López, members of the project team, led a workshop for fifth-grade students. They showed them how to measure the greenness and stress of the trial plants using portable meters to determine how the compost fertilisation was working. The students then harvested the trial lettuces under the supervision of Paqui Moscoso, a school garden monitor from Utrera and a project collaborator. Finally, the lettuces were raffled off among the students for consumption.

This project is carried out in collaboration with the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology – Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities (project reference FCT-22-18403).
